Equine massage
Therapeutic massage
Among other benefits, therapeutic massage helps to reduce muscle spasms and tension, control chronic pain, as well as break up adhesions and knots. It also increases blood and lymphatic circulation, reduces the risk of injury, and improves a horse’s length of stride.
Depending on the horse’s disposition, as well as the manipulations used, therapeutic massage can have either a relaxing or a stimulating effect.
The effect of this type of massage occurs not only on a physical level, but on a psychological level as well. For example:
- An excited horse can develop a calmer disposition,
- A lethargic horse can demonstrate an increase in its energy level,
- A reluctant horse can become more cooperative.
- Etc.
A therapeutic massage lasts for approximately one-and-a-half hours, depending on your horse’s tolerance.
You may also choose to include a thorough assessment of your equine companion, as well as a saddle evaluation. This process takes an additional hour or so.

Sports massage
This type of massage focuses on specific parts of the horse’s body and is primarily used before and/or after strenuous activity.
A sports massage is not designed to break up the horse’s knots or adhesions. Rather, we concentrate on relaxing or stimulating specific parts of the body in response to the horse’s needs and the effect desired. We prepare the muscles for an upcoming event or help the body recuperate following an event.
A sports massage does not last quite as long as a therapeutic massage, and is always performed in accordance with a specific goal and the needs of the horse.
